The Health Informatics and Analytics Graduate Certificate program is a 15-credit-hour program: the core courses (9 hours) and the elective courses (6 hours). The certificate may be pursued concurrently with a related graduate degree program at UNC Charlotte.

The Health Informatics and Analytics master’s program is a 36-credit-hour program: the core courses (24 hours) and the elective courses (12 hours). A maximum of 6 hours of graduate credit may be transferred. Students may apply all of the credits earned in the Graduate Certificate in Health Informatics and Analytics toward the M.S. in Health Informatics and Analytics with the approval of the HIA Program Director.

Health Informatics and Analytics is an interdisciplinary program within the School of Data Science that leverages and capitalizes on the strength of its parent colleges, the College of Health and Human Services and the College of Computing and Informatics, to prepare national and international students to advance the professional practice of Health Informatics and Analytics through a thorough grounding in data science, and health analytics.

HIAN Graduate Certificates


The Graduate Certificate in Health Informatics and Analytics (HIA) is designed to introduce individuals to the core concepts of data management and analysis in healthcare.  The certificate requires 15 credit hours of coursework and demonstration of competence through several non-credit activities.  Courses leading to the Graduate Certificate in Health Informatics and Analytics are delivered in face-to-face formats.
